In particular, my favorite DSM - the 97-99 Talon TSi AWD in Black with no sunroof.

Here's mine. The only clean, stock 1G I've ever seen in real life.

Mine has a DSM motor. That counts, right?

Yup, yup thats a lot cleaner than my 1GB...a LOT cleaner, which is why there aren't any pictures of it on here.

The want can at least be registered.

Gives me positive feelings about owning one... kinda a rare thing.
2900lbs of fury, 2800 pounds with the carbon fiber hood. Swear to god before I got mine it took a solid clean & jerk to lift the gaddamn stock piece.

2G talons are the sexyest hands down...but I'd want the sunroof. I dunno it probably adds hundreds of pounds and on my 1G its just a tinted glass hatch...

the needle moved ever so slightly in favor of brown AWD wagon

DING DING DING! We have a winner. I 100% agree. I was actually talking about this very same thing just yesterday.

How's the community with DSMs, still going strong? Like the supra community? Those 1Gs looks clean!

Having owned both an Eclipse GSX and a Talon TSi AWD, I wholeheartedly agree.

Here is one crappy pic of mine and a few vids of pre clutch install dyno runs. 98 TSi AWD.

Having personally owned one of each (my GSX had the sunroof, the Talon AWD did not) I prefer it without. For me, it's just something that can and will go wrong down the road, it's a little more weight, plus most cars were spec'd with them so a non sunroof model is rarer.

Well, this shop is continually developing their "Red Demon" and if you swing on over to DSMTuners.com the forum is alive and well.

My last one was nearly identical, save that it was a 95. It had the front bumper and lights from a 97-99 but nothing else was changed. I did quite like the red...

I love the 1G for the same reasons that I love the Starion and the Subaru SVX. I love the 2G for the same reasons I love the FD RX7 and the MKIV Supra.

Sorry, but the 2G isn't in FD/MkIV range. Those cars are classically swoopy and low, with simple lines and sweeping curves. This is just bloated with much less care towards simple designs and more towards just adding more elements, such as the door bulges, to distract from the ridiculously tall roofline. I like the 2G, but the design is sorely lacking. I love the 1G though because it's unabashedly itself. It knows it's got a high roof, so it embraces that with more glass!

If this weren't so far out of production, this would be EXACTLY the sort of car I would want.
After owning my 92 SVX LS-L AWD... I know what sort of parts hunting, and waiting, and frequent bothersome problems crop up, even on a VERY well-built, but now aging car.
AWD
Manual gearbox
Turbo
3-door fastback
good looks (and the visual details between Talon TSi and Mitsu Eclipse make ALL the difference, I don't like the Mitsu's bloated bumpers and awkward fascias and rear lights)
This car fell along with all the rest of the coupes in the late 90s...
But I don't see why this is a bad premise for resurrection, after so many other coupes have been resurrected.
But NOTHING whatsoever comes close to this at an affordable price point now, and these DSMs are approaching 20 years old, as well as being out of production for more than 10 years... spare parts are no longer being made... when they are gone, they are gone.
I don't mind Mitsubishi's car division going down, as consequence of not putting EVO/RalliArt spec drivetrain into the most recent Eclipse, with sharpened visuals, and make a production version of Concept RA.
